David Misell
David Misell was born in London, England on May 10, 1810. He was the eldest son of William and Rebecca (née Davis) Misell. His father was a successful businessman who owned a number of properties in London.
His mother died when he was just five years old. David was educated at Eton College and then University College, Oxford. After graduation, he worked in his father’s business for a short time before moving to Paris to study art.
In Paris, David met and fell in love with an American woman named Mary Jackson. They were married in 1834 and moved back to London where they had two children: William (born 1835) and Rebecca (born 1837).
